Seriously cracking up through the entire read, all down to the fish story, and the recipes themselves. What a wonderful 'batch' of stories. P.S. I'm kind of curious about the dandelion wine, should I try making some...hmmmm

What a wonderful collection of memories. They say that scent is a great trigger for memories, and I imagine all sorts of "fun" smells can bring these memories back to you, haha. And like your editor, as a Texan, I appreciated the extra info on these mysterious Red Wing crocks :)

We played the same dandelion games in Maryland. My father was a reader of Mother Earth News, and we ate dandelion greens a couple of times. I have a dandelion cookbook by Dr. Peter A. Gail that includes my mother-in-law's recipe for dandelion salad. Some of the recipes were for pie, cookies, lasagna, omelet, pasta... People got very creative with the weed.
